Crochet Throw – Bright Coloured Squares

4 Jan

I love love love this blanket.  It took me over a year to complete it as I didn’t work on it all the time.

Progress:

Instructions:

I used an 8 ply acrylic wool.  I think it was Panda 50g, I also used way more than what the pattern said.  I think I ended up tripling the quantity.  What I did was to make a certain amount and weigh them and then work out how much wool I would need and then I went back and got more.

I used a 4.5mm hook.

Squares:

A = 12 rows (30cm), make 4

B = 8 rows (20cm), make 14

C = 6 rows (15cm), make 24

D = 4 rows (10cm), make 53

E = 2 rows (5cm), make 104

Using a 4.5mm hook, make 4 ch and join with a sl st to form a ring.

In these instructions tr is the british version, so = a dc in US.

1st round: 3 ch, 2tr in ring, (2ch, 3 tr in ring) 3 times, 2 ch, sl st in 3rd ch at beg.

2nd round: 3 ch, * 1 tr in each tr to 2ch sp, (2tr, 2ch, 2 tr) in 2ch sp, rep from * to end, sl st in 3rd ch at beg.

3rd round: 3ch, * 1 tr in each tr to 2ch sp, (2tr, 2ch, 2tr) in 2 ch sp, rep from * 3 more times, 1 tr in each tr to end of round, sl st in 3rd ch at beg.

Rep 3rd round until square measures the correct number of rows.

Make up:  sew squares together using the following diagram.

Layout

I finished it off with a row of sc around the whole piece.
